(Pre-NIF) Child Safety Policy
CHILD SAFE STANDARDS INFORMATION
Child Safe Standards
The Victorian Government has introduced child safe standards to apply to all organisations that provide services to children.
Black Rock Yacht Club, like most yacht and sporting clubs, is required to implement the standards commencing 1 January 2017. The standards are designed to improve the way organisations that provide services to children prevent and respond to child abuse.
In late 2016, the General Committee commenced reviewing the standards and applying them in a way that is relevant to the size and nature of Black Rock Yacht Club. The General Committee has approved the following documents;
- Statement of Commitment to Child Safety
- Child Safety Code of Conduct
- Child Safe Standards Reporting
- Child Safe Standards Incident Report Form

The implementation of the standards was presented to the Half Yearly General Meeting of members held in February this year.
The standards and their implementation apply to all members and staff at Black Rock Yacht Club. Members and staff should familiarise themselves with the documents which will be located on the internet and displayed on club notice boards.
Should any member want to discuss the implementation of the child safe standards or any issue or concerns to Child Safety, please don’t hesitate to contact a Member Protection Information Officer (Mark Jackson), Flag Officer or General Manager.
